As elucidated by Piteros et al. (1990: 171–84, esp. 172, 181), the sealings record provisions for a feast. They have formulaic similarities to tablets such as Cn 418 and Un 138 from Pylos, seen above. Further, like *we-u-da-ne-u of Cn 418, some of the contributors at Thebes are likely to have been ‘collectors’, as indicated by the appearance of the words a-ko-ra/a-ko-ra-jo, indicating a connection with ‘collector’ flocks (Killen 1976; 1994: 76–77; Piteros et al. 1990: 147–50).
